What length of Poms Would Be Perfect for Cheerleaders?

Poms Length guide

We usually know what we want when it comes to poms. The question that we are always puzzled by is...

"What length strand would you prefer?"

It was worth looking into so we put together some useful information:

For giveaways, poms 3’’ smaller are more effective. These babies should be left out of performances.

Poms still fall on the smaller side of the pom spectrum, but the 4'" strand serves its purpose. Youth groups that want to punch above their weight with a great pom, but not overwhelm their performers with too much fluff will love this site.

The 5" is great for all ages and performance types but has a competitive edge. Although the strands are slightly shorter, they still have the required flash, but they serve more as accents to the group or uniform and less as show-stealer.

The 6'' is the most popular size. It can be used for almost any age group and performance type. This site is ideal for cheerleaders, dance teams, and majorettes.

The 7'’ strand length is slightly longer than its sisters. To showcase those strands, you can use them in a pom dance.

An 8'' strand can look floppy instead of fluffy. It may not appear to be much larger than the 7'’, but it is only an inch. The added length of the strands pushes them down, creating a droopy look.

The mother pom, the 10’’ strand is floppy. It's not ideal for use today. These long locks would have been paired with a show handle or dowel handle to give a retro vision of cheerleading. They get larger from there.

Cheer Pom Poms

It is not practical or can be used for novelty poms, such as rooter poms, that you've seen at the stands of nearly every sporting event.
